Khaki and grey

I'm loving all the new season stuff coming into the shops at the moment! There is a lot of khaki and grey which ties in really well with some of the colours I've been working with lately, including being a perfect backdrop for the new yellow Miss Knit Nat knits.

Here are some of my faves:

Parka - Bella Parka from Oasis
Pom pom hat - Miss Knit Nat
Lambswool triangle snood - Miss Knit Nat
Dress - Topshop
Long grey cardigan - Next
Paisley wrap - Oasis

Have a great weekend!

New studio!

I'm so excited to have finished my new studio!! Just moved everything into the space today and really pleased with how it's turned out.

I wanted it to be really light and airy so we picked a really pale grey colour paint and then added the wallpaper for a nice feature wall. The tricky bit was planning and the re-planning the furniture, my one BIG tip is to remember where the light switch and plug sockets are when you're playing around with your scale cut out models of the room and furniture (everyone else does this right?). When I realised that the plugs were all in the wrong place I had to rejigg everything around again - oops!!

To celebrate my new studio (yay!) I'm offering 20% off all knits until 8 June with code STUDIO at missknitnat.com.

WIN a knitting kit!

If you’re a knitter you can WIN one of my knitting kits in the latest issue (58) of Let's Get Crafting - Knitting and Crochet, to make yourself a cosy pom pom hat and mitts!

You can enter through the magazine itself or online here. The kit up for grabs is in the oatmeal colour.

It's been really exciting launching my knitting kits and patterns this year - and I love hearing from other fellow knitters!

As well as knitting up these hats and mitts myself I've also been doing crochet amigurumi in between orders - more on that in another post when the last one is complete - and experimenting with my knitting machine!

What should have been on my knitting needles

At the start of the summer I made a resolution to get cracking with some of my personal knitting projects (Purl Alpaca cardigan, Millamia fair isle cushion and Toft amigurumi x2) and really bust that stash.

How much have I achieved? If you're a knitter you'll know the answer is none - but instead I made the fab Robbo Robot from the book Amigurumi for a friend's birthday (which she loved - look how cute he is!) started learning to sew (I really want to be able to make my own dresses) with a course at Pandora in Guildford and another now booked later in the year, and started to launch my patterns and knitting kits, oh and added to the stash too with more yarns and now fabrics.

Finished Robbo Robot

I really do need to make that Purl Alpaca cardi though as it will be a perfect autumn addition to my current wardrobe staples of dresses.

I also learnt new tricks along the way - with the amigurimi you can make COMPLETELY jogless stripes which I found at this fab tutorial here. This is genius - although I actually followed the second method because I had so many stripes and was on a robot crochet deadline!

The day I made my new tote bag at Pandora!

The day my new sewing machine arrived was VERY exciting!

I also think it goes to show that you can't always plan creativity and ideas, and often have to follow what is more fluid, although perhaps this is just an excuse to keep adding to that stash!

So what are my planned projects now? All of the above plus a number of sewing patterns, this could take a while...

What have you knitted over the summer and have you made any knitting/crochet resolutions?

A belated post about the Spring Knitting and Stitching Show!

Now this post is over a week late BUT the Spring Knitting and Stitching Show last weekend was brilliant!

I've been to the March Stitch and Craft Shows the past two years which have got bigger each year (especially the knitting section!) and saw this as a kind of 'mini Ally Pally' and we weren't disappointed!

Off we went, me, Mr Knit Nat and my fellow knitting and wine club friends on our day trip to Olympia, managing to arrive before it had even opened with our keen-ness. First stop was coffee and brochure buying to decide on our plan of action.

Then it was off to Toft to get one of their crochet amigurumi animals - I spent ages trying to decide which one to get and finally settled on the sheep and the hippo - look at how many they have to choose from!

I also bought the yarn and pattern for a waistcoat from Purl Alpaca so will keep you posted on how they both turn out. I’m hoping to get the waistcoat knitted up quite soon so I can wear it now with dresses.

Cute crochet finds

Here are a couple of cute crochet items we found along the way. The first is Gordon the Owl where you can buy the pattern from Mrs Moon, and the Robot is from a book called Amigurimu (Cozy) by Lan-Anh Bui.

In the second hall there was a big Folksy section where I met fellow Folksy seller Chichidee - and bought one of her brilliant turban headbands.

Then just as we were leaving we decided to bundle into the stall with mountains of wool - unfortunately I don't have any photos as it was just too crowded but was so much fun! Fellow knitting and wine friend Laura wanted a particular shade and after I declared I'd found it delving onto the floor into all the bags (and with the kind help of two fellow crafters) showed it to Laura but it was the one she already had - that stall was hilarious!

Mr Knit Nat and all our shopping

Final stop was to cover Mr Knit Nat in all of our bags for a funny photo opp - between us we left with some 30 balls of wool!

Can't wait til the next one at Ally Pally in October!

It's Wool Week!

This week has also been Wool Week and below are a few of my favourite images of woolly happenings and Wool Week jumpers!

First of all Harvey Nichols celebrated Wool Week wrapped in a massive ball of wool:

How much fun is it making pom poms!

We're excited that we've just added a new hat to the shop and thought we should also say a bit about ourselves as well seeing as this is our first post!

The new chunky pom pom hat is below and we've had so much fun making the pom poms for it! It's available now at www.missknitnat.com.

As well as hats and pom poms Miss Knit Nat also makes snoods, scarves, gloves and headbands, all handmade and super warm!
